Our Evaluation

Wonders & Worries is committed to evaluating the impact and benefits of our programs. Evaluation not only helps us attract funding, it also helps us to strengthen our programs so that we can better serve families in need.

We have been using independent evaluators since 2007, and since 2009, we have worked with an independent consulting firm that specializes in program evaluation. That firm, Nybeck Analytics, administers a quarterly online survey for parents and caregivers whose families have received services for a minimum of three months. The surveys are analyzed quarterly, bi-annually and biennially, giving us a detailed picture of the impact Wonders & Worries’ programs have. We are currently working with Nybeck Analytics to gather two years worth of data, which will give us an even more in-depth understanding of the impact our client families have seen from Wonders & Worries’ programs.

So far, evaluations have shown that very high percentages of people agree Wonders & Worries had improved their communication skills, or increased their confidence in parenting during this difficult time in their lives.

  • 94 percent of those surveyed agreed that Wonders & Worries improved their ability to discuss the illness with their children.
  • 94 percent of those surveyed agreed that Wonders & Worries had taught them a lot about how children understand illness.
  • 88 percent of those surveyed agreed that they had gotten good ideas for helping children deal with an illness from Wonders & Worries.
  • 91 percent of families surveyed said that their family’s ability to handle the stress of illness was “much better now” or “somewhat better now” than before coming to Wonders & Worries.
