Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of W&W and its services. The Board oversees the administration, including monitoring finances, programs and performance of the organization. Board members are elected for a term of three years, and are eligible for consideration for a second three-year term. After two terms, a member is eligible for re-consideration one year after s/he has left the Board.

Fundraising Committee is responsible for ensuring the financial stability of W&W through the creation and successful implementation of an annual fundraising plan for general operating revenue and special programs, including annual campaign, special events, grant writing and the development of other sources of revenues.

Event Committees
Wonders & Worries currently has five fundraising event committees. Members work independently and with staff to coordinate all aspects of the events including sponsorship, ticket sales, food & beverage, entertainment, publicity, coordination with vendors, etc. The event committees are:

Qué Maravilla! (Annual gala held the last weekend in August)
Daddy/Daughter Dance – The Wonder Ball (held in the spring)
Parent/Child Golf Tournament (held in the fall)
No Worries Classic – (a skeet shooting event held in the fall)
AT&T Austin Marathon W&W Water Station Committee (held in February)

Program Committee is responsible for making decisions regarding the implementation of new programming and the possible revision of existing programs.

Informal Support Committee is responsible for coordinating all aspects of W&W Informal Support activities for our client families. These include fun, free events such as an annual Ice Cream Social, Bat Cruise on Town Lake, and outings to sporting and cultural events, as well as free tickets to athletic or cultural events. These activities allow our families to take a break from whatever they’re dealing with and enjoy being together in a fun, relaxing environment with other families going through similar experiences.

Outreach Committee is responsible for ensuring the accurate promotion of the organization throughout the community, and beyond, including increasing national awareness of the emotional needs of children when their parent has a serious illness.

Speakers Bureau is responsible for identifying opportunities and speaking directly with groups from the health care and counseling communities, civic organizations and other interested parties to promote awareness of W&W. Volunteers are trained and provided a script and video for presentations.

Finance Committee is responsible for the accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of the W&W finances.

Nominating Committee is responsible for recruiting new Board members, as well as placement within working committees, and conducting orientation sessions for new Board members.

Governance Committee ensures the constant health and effectiveness of the full board and the work it performs for the organization. The committee has the responsibility in overseeing the performance of the board and managing compliance to the organization's mission. Its goal is to keep board members energized and engaged while maintaining value and control.

Expansion Committee is responsible for overseeing the process of researching options and implementing the expansion of W&W to different cities across the nation. They have established a goal of “5 in 5” – opening five new W&W offices in five years.

Activity and Support Group Volunteers primarily function alongside other W&W volunteers or a child life specialist but are also prepared to function independently to provide play and recreation to children and families. They serve during child-parent relationship training (CPR) groups or during special event activities. Volunteer opportunities take place at the W&W office location or special event meeting place. Please note - these volunteers are subject to a background check prior to beginning service.

Special Projects Volunteers function alongside a staff person or independently to assist with the ongoing development, maintenance, and organization of supplies, craft materials and educational information used in W&W programs. Volunteer opportunities take place at the W&W office location or any other designated setting.

Administrative Volunteers aid W&W staff in performing administrative duties such as data entry, filing, correspondence, answering the phone, research, etc. Volunteer opportunities take place at the W&W office location.
