About us:
History
Meredith
Cooper, MA, CCLS, LPC and Melissa Hicks, MS, CCLS, LPC, RPT are two child
life specialists who have attended to the psychosocial needs of children
with cancer and blood disorders for several years. Initially working with
pediatric oncology patients and children affected by other chronic illnesses,
they expanded their services to include children who have a parent with
a chronic illness, primarily with cancer. Knowing that an illness in one
family member has a significant impact on others in the family, Ms. Cooper
and Ms. Hicks quickly recognized the additional need for more formalized
psychosocial services for children and adolescents in this situation.(more)

Wonders & Worries Strategic Plan for Expansion
Recently, our Board of Directors approved a strategic
plan for strengthening the organization with the eventual goal of expanding
Wonders & Worries to other cities across the nation. This plan offers
a new vision for Wonders & Worries - one that will enable us to serve
more children and families. It will allow us to expand our free programs
to include ongoing support for teens and adolescents whose families are
affected by the long-term affects of cancer, a more formalized bereavement
support program for Wonders & Worries families, and an expanded support
program for children and families affected by chronic illnesses other
than cancer.
